In Year 5 we Live, Love and Learn as followers of Jesus Christ.
Here are some examples of the work we continue to enjoy based on our RE ‘Come and See’ scheme.
In our current topic on the Eucharist we have looked closely at memories and why they are important and how they are kept alive. As a class we talked about how the Passover and The Last Supper and how both these event affected the lives of many people. We thought about and discussed the meanings and symbols of the Eucharist, looking particularly at the Eucharist Prayer, the Consecration and the sacrifice Jesus made. We discussed that believers who responded to God’s word and become member of Christ’s Body became intimately united with him.
During this topic we have:
Written about our special memories and how they important to our lives.
Looked at a picture of The Last Supper by El Greco or Leonardo de Vinci, thought about the symbols of the image and compared it to gospel accounts.
Created a guide on PowerPoint to explain to children who are preparing to receive Jesus in the Holy Communion, explaining to them what happens and the important parts to pay attention to.
Illustrated the words to the different responses of the mystery of faith and explain how these words are important to people attending the mass.
Written a prayer remembering and thanking Jesus for the sacrifice he made. These prayers were then shared in class with each other.
