How to support your child at home:

Daily Reading – It’s really important that your child reads regularly, at least 3 times per week. Please use the green reading record book to record comments and return to school every Friday. Reading record books will be checked and where applicable changed, and given back out every Friday.

Spellings - Spelling patterns and rules will be taught through focused lessons. In addition, children are expected to learn the words included in the Year 5/6 statutory spelling list. The national expectation is that, by the end of Year 6, children can spell all of these words accurately, alongside the words taught each week that follow particular spelling patterns and rules.

Maths basic skills – each week there will be the minimum expectation that children go onto TT Rockstars for at least 30 minutes as part of their ongoing homework. Children need to know all tables up to x12 and the related division facts as this knowledge feeds into a lot of the Y5/6 curriculum maths curriculum.

Things to remember:

All homework is set on a Friday and is due in on Wednesday morning.

PE is on Wednesday and Thursday - remember to wear your PE kit on these days.

Please bring water bottles in daily.
