Join Us as a Foundation Governor – Make a Difference in Catholic Education

 

Are you passionate about Catholic education? Do you want to play a key role in shaping the future of a local Catholic school? We are seeking a dedicated Foundation Governor to join our governing body and support the school’s mission, ethos, and strategic direction.

 

What Does a Foundation Governor Do?

As a Foundation Governor, you will:

  • Uphold and develop the Catholic character of the school
  • Support and challenge the leadership team to ensure the best outcomes for all pupils
  • Help set the school’s vision, policies, and long-term strategic plans
  • Oversee financial management and school performance
  • Work with fellow governors to make key decisions that impact students, staff, and the wider school community

 

What Are the Requirements?

We are looking for individuals who:

  • Are practising Catholics and committed to maintaining the school’s Catholic ethos
  • Have a passion for education and children’s development
  • Can think strategically and work as part of a team
  • Possess skills in areas such as finance, HR, legal, education, or pastoral care (though not essential)
  • Are willing to attend regular meetings and engage in school life

 

Time Commitment

Being a Foundation Governor is a rewarding voluntary role that requires commitment. Typically, you would need to:

  • Attend three to six full governing body meetings per year (usually in the evening)
  • Join at least one governing committee, which meets termly
  • Visit the school periodically and participate in school events
  • Undertake training and development to enhance your governance skills
